Stop the INSANITY!!!

It's another Friday and I am paying for the weekly "Thursday Night Binge". I just took a look in the mirror and yup! There they are - those lovely puffy eyes I've had every Friday for the last month or so...Why?? Because I can't seem to keep away from the Ruffles, that's why!!

A little personal background - I have "water retention issues", meaning I even look at anything salty I puff up like a blowfish (think Finding Nemo for a visual reference) and every Thursday I do the weekly grocery shopping. Ok, with me so far... So I always pick up the variety packs of potato chips for the kids' lunches. However, always left over from these are the fritos and the plain ruffles with rrrrridges.... Fritos are handled by Hubby. And me, well I INHALE the ruffles!! I can't seem to stop - I find I NEED to pour half a bottle of ranch dressing in a bowl and dip away all those little bags of ruffles.... And even while I'm doing it, I can feel the salt kick in.... And I keep munching away....

It's very sad, and I am so very weak. Please, my dear ones - take pity and try not to be too disappointed in me. I leave you now to go pop a water pill.......

Just who the hell said women are indecisive???

Now for those of you following along - On Tuesday I popped in with a little post while I killed some time waiting to go pick up Meems from dance. Can I just say, I wish I had her energy - 3 1/2 hours of straight dancing, Jazz/tap, Lyrical and Hip/Hop!! (I still dance better then her though, so HA! ) Sooooo anyhoo -

All day the hubby was calling me because he couldn't make up his mind whether or not he wanted to go to this extra hockey practice for an up-coming coaches game he's in this weekend. FINALLY he decides to go, he's going to have Booge with him, so I plan on swinging by the rink to pick up boy-child and then heading to the dance studio for girl-child. I am at the exit for the ice rink and the cell rings....... Oh yes, it's HIM. Wanting to know where I am? I'm about a block away, why?? CUZ HE'S NOT GOING TO PRACTICE AND SO I DON'T NEED TO COME GET BOOGE!!! AHHHHHHHHH! This info would have been appreciated an 1/2 hour ago before I got in the car!!

And NOW - he's calling because he has a game and he can't make up his mind about taking the kids skating beforehand.... 3 CALLS ALREADY THIS MORNING!

I think I might need to pop into "photoshop" and see how the family picture looks without him - 'CUZ I THINK I'M GOING TO KILL HIM!!

Memories....

So in Tal's blog she mentions listening to Hysteria and bringing back the memories...I mentioned how many a DL song were playing in the background to some good memories for me too.

And so here I sit killin' an hour before I pick up Meems from dance and what's on VH-1 but - Rock Star!! Does that whole movie just bring back the memories of the '80s for me! And whats playing in the background...Oh Yeah, DL!! "Let's get ROCKED!!"

OMG!!! And there are those physco cats!! I LOVE THE VH-1 Cats!!

Is it just me.....

Ok, so is it the way I set this thing up? You guys can add photos to your pages (there was a pro-sports photographer at the Tournament this week-end and she got KILLER shots of the Booge!! I want to post them when I get them) or the smileys in your posts and I can't seem to. Since I KNOW y'all are so smart, tell me what I'm doing wrong. C'mon - you know you want to!!

Yippee!! It's Monday!

What a busy weekend - 2 days straight of driving around from one ice rink to the next and back.... The Booge managed to get hurt in the neck, the wrist and a poke in the eye. This kid hasn't had a scratch all year and gets all beat up the last weekend, figures.... They went undefeated and ended up losing the big one. It didn't help that it was a loss to their conference rivals and there was bad blood to begin with. I think losing to an out-of-town team would have been easier. So, I had to spend Sunday morning consoling a little boy who was trying not to cry in front of Sis and Dad. And I think he was actually more upset about not seeing the other guys on the team as much anymore then the actual game. I think it all kinda hit him all at once and we had a little emotional overload.

And now the focus switches to the Meems (girl-child). She is participating in her first dance competition/convention this weekend. It's an overnighter and so I had to squeeze in getting her some matching PJ's and various other "must haves" this weekend.

So it's Monday, I'm at work and get to relax..... a little.

Good Morning!

What a bright and sunny Seattle morning ~ I guess if I HAVE to be up, it's nice to wake up to this kind of sunny morning.

Well I did try to get to bed and get some sleep. I should have had at least 7 hours (looking at the clock and doing the math) but the Booge (boy-child) had his 1st tournament game last night - They won! GO RED!! - and got elbowed in the neck.
Now he wears a neck guard and didn't do any damage, but it was hurting him a bit. And so there was PLENTY of dramatics about not being able to breath right and so on.....

Now before you think I'm a horrible mother and don't care - I saw the look he was giving his sis when he thought no one was looking - DRAMA - And even though I knew he was playing it up, there's still that little blurp of doubt in the back of your mind that he might really be hurt.... So I let him sleep with hubby and me last night so I could watch him.... BIG MISTAKE - Oh Yeah, he's fine!! I, however, got kicked, slapped, poked and snored at all night!! Oh! And yelled at - he must have been thinking about the game, because he was yelling in his sleep "Go, Skate! Go Team! "

And so here I am, not anymore rested and feeling like I've gone 10 rounds and generally been bitch-slapped by an 8 year old! I guess I'm ready for another day of tournament action!! Oh well - "just put on a happy face..."

So!! Where were we....

In all the excitement of tinkering with things around here and the opening of the new "Diva Hotspot" (Luv ya Jules!) I didn't get to tell ya how last weekend went...And I KNOW you all want to know.

Ok, I have to admit it ~ It was crazy, but I had a really good time. The getting up in the middle of what should be night wasn't, but the rest was. The Hockey Challenge was ALOT of fun. Some of the Celebs this year were; DB SWEENEY, Michael Rosenbaum from "Smallville", James badge Dale from "24", Paul Guilfoyle from "CSI" and Cammi Granato, captain of the US Womens Hockey team (Who just so happens to be the sister of the Tony Granato - Coach of my Colorado Av's !! ) And Micro-soft Senior VP Brian Valentine, who does a kick-ass version of YMCA in full goalie gear!! It was a busy weekend going back and forth, but I think we all had fun!!

And now I get to do it again this weekend !! I just found out I volunteered to take a shift hosting the hospitality suite at the Hockey Tournament my son's in this weekend.
Right at the same time I'm suppose to be getting my daughter to her dance practice. "See the amazing Karrie be in two places at once!!"

Since I celebrate my Irish heritage everyday, to those of you joining us today, Welcome!!

Ahhhh, memories...... Today marks the 11th anniversary of my being taken hostage in a bank robbery. Yippee!! I said it then, and I'll say it now ~ "So much for the luck of the fucking Irish!" LOL!!!

I have added a few thing to the Blog and I'm still tinkering around with it, which is why I haven't been posting much. But, will pop in once in awhile.

Let's look at the Social calendar for Saturday ~ Shall we? .........

* Up at 3:00 AM: Well a quick peek at the clock and there's really no need to do the math ... I'm already screwed in the "getting a good nights sleep" category.
* Out the door at 5:30 AM: Car is loaded with hockey gear and we'll be heading south for the boy-child's hockey game @ 6:30 AM. Oh and a new activity added to this time slot: One of the mom's needs a ride. Super!! I really do my best entertaining at this hour!!
*It's 8:00AM: Time to jump back in the car and head north with my new best friend "Hockey Mom #3"
*10:00AM: After the required "No, it was no problem taking you guys...See you later, good game Josh!!" Maybe I can bury my head under the pillows for quick nap - mmmmm, yeah, pretty doubtful! There is that HUGE pile of clothes I should get starting on 'cuz....
*12:30PM: Got to head off for KeyArena for my shift volunteering at the Microsoft Hockey challenge!! 6 hours later....
*6:30PM: Still at the Key - Time to run up to the seats we have for Hockey season and catch the rest of the celebrity game with the Fam. Gotta get up and stretch a bit because...
*7:05PM: More ..... HOCKEY!!! Yes, that's right. Seattle T-birds vs Portland Winterhawks. 3 more hours in the Key - Oh well, if my mind starts to wander I can start playing a game I like to call: "now about where was the stage for the Def Leppard concert?? Near the blueline....or was it closer to the net?.......
*10:00PM: I think I want to go home, BUT!! My friend Billie wants me to hang around so we can listen to some guys from work play in a tribute band, Slayer tribute band. Mmmmkay. I really hope she has lost my cell # - But if she hasn't, I guess I'll go. She did, after all, go with me to see Pyromania.... But why is it when I finally get these people to go with me to things and they have fun (duh!) I get tagged "party pal" for anything and everything. And so if she calls the fun begins at...WTF!
12:00AM: Shit we're back to the "AM" and I might be sitting somewhere watching a Slayer tribute band....Somebody remind me I'm too old for this...Who are we kidding, I wouldn't listen anyway!!

Oh Yes....The Cats....

In a comment from a previous post, the subject of cats was brought up. The two that reside at my house share a love/hate relationship with me. They love me and I hate them. Simple, huh? But, they're cats and have a mind of their own.....

The cats are Em's (my daughter)and when she first batted her eyes in daddies direction to get them and when I was strong armed and beaten down, I made that perfectly clear! However, sensing the initial dislike I took to them, they both have made it their life's work to win me over.

They follow me everywhere, they hide in my closet, they lay on my clothes and think my pillows are the best place in the world to sleep the day away. And the girl child is in cahoots with them! I make sure my closet door is closed, they find a way in. I make my bed, there they are when I get home.

Now since there is no school, the girl-child and the cats are at home right now plotting their next devious move. I will come home tonight and the black pants I wanted to wear tomorrow will have hair all over them. When I lay my head down to rest my weary eyes, I will inhaled and start coughing on cat hair ~ Evil girl-child! Evil cats!!

NO REALLY!! Let me do it!

Up at 4:00am, leave work at 6:00pm, to the grocery store where I mindlessly load things (a lot of things!) in my cart, load it in the van and finally on my way home. Hmmm - no truck in the driveway, oh! That's right, Kent's playing hockey tonight. Well I'll get the kids to help get these groceries unloaded and put away and then a little down time...hmm - dead silence, no one is home. Oh look! Theres a note "No school tomorrow - went with dad to his hockey game" Well isn't that nice..... Back out to the van to unload a backend full and put it away. Isn't it nice the kids and dad get a little bonding time, HA! How about a little bonding time with mom over a couple of Safeway bag, huh!?!? My!! Does Karrie sound craby??? Well........ "It's my blog and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want too......"

I'm sorry, but were you invited????

What a nice surprise today at work! Our lead had lunch brought in for us, Azteca platter - Yummy! Now, because all the conference rooms were booked for management meetings (when isn't "management" in meetings??) She set things up at the end of the cubie row at an empty desk.... Along comes our manager asking (very nicely) if there was anywhere else to set it up. Why, we asked - Well it seems the other manager was complaining that his team was busy funding and he didn't want them disturbed by our "noise level". Whatever!! Next thing ya know - he's in the back room munching on our food!! Lame!! Seems he was a little miffed because he thought, since he hadn't done the same, he would look bad. Hey! Guess what??? You ended up looking bad anyway!!

Well!! I will consider this my first day in "BlogWorld" ~ Biggest thing happening this morning is all the people at work stopping me to get my reaction to the Todd Bertuzzi "incident". (For anyone whoe doesn't know - Karrie LOVES hockey!! It's my favorite sport, period. GO AV'S!!!) So here is my "Official" statement on the "incident" :

For most people not interested in hockey, their image of hockey as nothing but toothless canadians that like to pound the Labatts and pick fights (bullshit! BTW) was reinforced by the sound bites and singular film clip of "the hit" Todd Bertuzzi delivered on Steve Moore. This, more then anything, saddens me. As a fan of this game, it is very frustrating to have to defend a sport I love because of "cheap-shots" like this. And that is what it was. Todd Bertuzzi snapped - pure and simple - he let his anger get the best of him. (One look at his face tells you he was out of control ) I don't condone what he did. What I am truly disgusted by is the conduct of the entire Vancouver Canucks organization for not putting a stop to the ongoing conflicts, before "the hit" and what they allow to continue on the ice by the rest of the team afterwards. Even after they cleaned the blood off the ice, the Canucks continued to pick fights with the Av's.... Why? That's what truly pissed me off. It's done, it's over, a man was really hurt, stop it and get this game over with. But they didn't stop, they smirked and taunted and generally acted like a bunch of unruly thugs - coaching staff included - and for what?? An 9-2 loss... That my 8 year old son, who plays hockey himself, had to sit there and watch "professionals" act like such sore losers was pitiful!! Mr Bertuzzi got his punishment from the league. But maybe I should send him the poster where my son has crossed him out with a black marker.

And yes, hockey is about the hard hits and the fights. The sound of a wicked check into the boards or "dropping the gloves" are a part of the game and in my opinion should be. But there is also the finesse of seeing a player take the puck down the ice, weaving through opponent after opponent to deliver it through the "five hole". Or the ease in which a defensemen can skate backwards with the crossing of their blades in a way that would trip up any star of the Ice Capades. The stance of a goalie as he stares down the ice at the oncoming shooter - only the look in his eyes visible through his helmet, as he ultimately makes the perfect glove save or stops the puck with a perfectly executed butterfly..... And nothing compares to Mr Joe Sakic delivering his signature "twisted wrister" (Joes my favorite player BTW) This is MY hockey, this is why I watch, this is what makes me LOVE THIS GAME!! This is why it's the national sport of Canada, why it's so beloved.

WOW!!! Sorry about that, kinda went off there didn't I??? Wait a minute..... This is MY Blog, I can do that!!
