Is your daughter's insurance the same as your husband's........

*Heavy sigh* And so the weekend is over. Buh Bye!! My weekend started a little early, 1:30am Friday morning actually. Thursday night I came you to find hubby lying in bed, hmmm. Hubby has a hockey game, why is he in bed?? Well seems he was having a bad reaction to a prescription he had just gotten. He jokingly said "I'm going down the list of side effects - When I get to diarrhea I think I'm done!" Ok he's kidding around, he will probably live.

That was my thought until 1:30 that morning when I woke up to the most god awful wail of pain I have ever heard! And there is Hubby on his knees by the side of the in a whoooole lot of pain! I jump out of bed with the intent of driving him to the emergency room and finding out what the hell is going on. However, by the time I get back to our room, hubby is telling me I'd better call someone, he's got shooting pain under his ribs and he's having trouble breathing. HOLY SHIT!! - White male, in his 40's with chest pain and trouble breathing..... HOLY SHIT!
A call to 911 and hubby is off with the paramedics to emergency.

I am of course in total control up to this point and wait to have my little breakdown until I'm in the car driving to the hospital and I'm back in control by the time I see him. Bottom line: after 4 hours at the hospital, once it was decided it wasn't heart related we got bumped behind the MethHead that thought riding his motorcycle was a good idea and the bar hags that got in the cat fight after too many 1/2 priced well drinks, final diagnosis is Pleurisy. Now for awhile we had a choice between Pleurisy and a blood clot, hmmmm what to choose, what to choose......

So! After getting the hubby home, running out and getting prescription filled, having another mini breakdown just to clear that out of my system and making sure the crap on my desk at work can wait, I figure since I'm home during the day I'll jump on the Yahoo IM and see if my fellow Diva is out and about. Since Peaches has a meeting and will be gone for awhile, I think this would be a good time to pop some Excedrin and lie down for a bit...... I get woken up by a tap on the shoulder and one very worried look on the boy-childs face, "Mom, I think you'd better come see Meems" Round two....

There sits Emily on the couch, crying her eyes out and her foot propped up on a pillow. From what I was able to piece together; Boo, the cat was chasing a crane fly around the house (Awww, isn't that cute) Boo caught the crane fly and proceeded to eat it (Ewwww, gross!) So Emily jumped up to get it away and somehow screwed up her foot.

I was just going to leave her there propped up with a bag of ice and a couple of "there, there you'll be alright.." But, it was looking pretty swollen and turning the prettiest of colors. And since she dances, I didn't want to let it go and take the chance something was really wrong. *Heavy sigh* I leave Glenn to keep an eye on Dad and off I go..... Bottom line; Sprained foot and broken toe.

And Jules - That is why I disappeared from the IM on Friday!

Now, while this was all happening it seems my friend Dede had been trying to get in touch with me. After spewing out my tale of woe she quietly asks "So I guess you guys don't want to go over to Crescent Bar with us Labor Day weekend, huh?" WRONG, DEAD WRONG!! If Glenn and I can make it through the week (dealing with those other two and keeping ourselves heathly, these things seem to come in threes), I'll be there!! I'll propped them up in a lawn chair and be nice enough to swat away the mosquitoes if I have to, but I'll be there!

So fingers crossed I get through the week. Def Leppard was the first thing playing when I tuned in LaunchCast this morning, so I'm hoping that's a good sign.....

And the magic word is.........TORONTO!!

Why you may ask, or you may not but I'm telling you anyway! Toronto is the home of the NHL Hall of Fame, Yippeee! And where the rest of my family wants to spend summer vacation next year. I say "the rest of the family" because, while I love hockey, I'm more of a "in the moment" kind of fan and don't have a burning desire to see the past. But if that's what they want.....

Then they can go, while I spend my summer, hopefully (fingers crossed) catching a lot of DL concerts!! It makes for a lovely little compromise, don'tcha think?!?!

But alas, AirCanada tickets and such are not cheap and we've got to start saving. Hence the magic word, TORONTO!! Anytime the kids pop up and want something right now, something they have to have or they'll die (this week, next week whatever is broken and buried in their room) I just say TORONTO..... and poof! Suddenly they don't need it so much. "Mom, we have to have new backpacks!" The one's from last year are fine..."No, we neeeeed new ones!".....TORONTO! "Nevermind, we'll use the old ones!" and so on.... LOVE IT!!!! With any luck I'll be milking this all year, hehe!

Patty - no time to email ya, but I did send out a bunch of "feelers" last night trying to get someplace that would be interested in Oct. ..... we'll see! If not, Billie and I are thinking of taking a "field trip" and checking out some of these places...they do look interesting! lol

Ok, I'm sreamin' busy! Gotta go. Talk to ya later!

Will you be checking your luggage.....

I'm talking about the bags under my eyes. Way too many nights staying up way too late. I don't really get into the summer Olympics, I like the winter games better and don't make a point of watching. However, I do have the tendency to catch something that holds my attention and end up watching anyways.

But, I managed to get my blog kinda back to normal in between watching Paul and Paul Sr arguing on American Choppers and the US take silver and gold in Gymnastics at the Olympics (WoooHooo!!).

And YIPEEEEE it's finally Friday! Have a great weekend everybody!!

And this is what I came home to....

Seems Meems and the Booge found mom's DVD of "Cat's" and have become obsessed. They have been practicing dance moves and songs all week and Hubby and I have been invited to the Friday night premiere of Meems and Booge's production of Cats!! (to be held in the garage..)

Em did Glenn's make-up, I think she did pretty good for spur of the moment!!

**Oh, and yes I know my blog it screwed up. I hit a wrong button somewhere and bad things happened.... it never ends *rolls eyes*

Not much else, it's American Chopper week on Discovery. So that means Mom and boy-child curled up on the couch watching. It's a Mom and Booge thing, LOVE IT!

I give up! After trying to get thru reading everyone's blog (I failed, sorry to those I missed) and being attacked by adware, I give up!! I have to go in and clean up the adware crap and haven't had a chance and so surfing at home as become a nightmare!!!

And that damn Blogger "thing" has shown up!! I'll deal with it later.

I'm going to curl up on the couch, watch "Growing up Gotti" and there is the show about clutter on HGTV I think I need to watch.... Thinking of tackling the kitchen this weekend....*shudder*

Me and my shadow......

All week!! We have a new girl joining the dept and they wanted me to train her.... yippeee! At this point, I would very much like to revert to childhood and everytime this person asks "why?" I want to say "Cuz", that's all - "Cuz!". I know, she needs to learn. Blah, Blah, Blah..... And I keep going along with the program, but I'm really, really glad it's Friday! However, this Friday Uncle Charley's visiting Florida, all our offices are closed down and everything got shifted to us. So I really don't have time to say anything but "Cuz!" right now! What's that license plate holder say - Get in, shut up and hold on!

So, yesterday was Thursday and anyone paying attention knows this is grocery shopping day. Strolling down the beer aisle for Hubby's LaBatts what do I see..... Yepper Doodles!! That damn Def Leppard Miller can I hauled all the way back from Denver!! Typical story of my life, I swear!! So, they've made it to the west coast...Kim.

I have to go to this fund raiser thingy tonight - YUCK, but I plan on getting home in time for a certain movie, supposedly going to be on VH1. I think I'll pop in to the Diva Domain while (if) it's on, maybe some of you will come by and join me....

I found a new saying in a book I'm reading, I just LOVE IT!! *clears throat* "She spent every single penny in the bank account of life" That's exactly what I try to do!!! Learn it, Love it, LIVE IT!! There are no credits or refunds at the end, my dears.

Have a GREAT weekend everyone!!

Little girls grow up.... Miss Emilee, Happy Birthday, Little Lady!!

I have decided to take the day, or two or twenty! lol, off from my blog to roam around and catch up on everybody else's. And there are some e-mails, (some that might end up being a bit winded) that I want to send out and forums I haven't looked at for a while and Blah, Blah, Blah......

No way...not tonight.

It's just too hot around here! I'm just going to keep sitting by the fan and try and cool down. I did get my walk in and made brownies with the kids....I know, brownies in 90 degree weather. It was the heat, I wasn't thinking clearly....Ok, back to the fan.

Not much goin' on.......

Poor Hubby had to work all weekend, Saturday and Sunday. He normally starts at 5:00am, but on the weekends they start at 4:00am - EEEEEK!! It wouldn't have been so bad, but being the first week back from vacation(which is hard enough), he is BEAT! 12 days straight, ugh! So not much happening around here. Low profile.

I was out and about and found these cute little black frames and decided I needed them!! So I got online and got some pics from Aprils bachlorette party and framed them to put at my desk at work!! I love them!! Nice to add to the collection and remember the great time we had.

Well, I think that's it. Let's see what next week brings us!!

Tuesday, August 03, 2004

Well, as first days back from vacation go....That was a doozy!!

So, let's see how did Monday start....2 hours late. I just couldn't quite believe my alarm was going off and didn't bother to get up. Luckily I get up super early to workout in the morning so I wasn't late for work. Missed the workout, not good considering the way my pants felt when I put them on! Oinked it up pretty good out there on the open road!!

**Side note on the "oinked it up" - One of the great things about our road trips to Denver is that we can eat at all those places that we don't have here in Seattle: Tim Horton's all through Canada (gotta love getting a doughnut with every meal), A&W in Canada (cuz you can get a side of gravy for your fries - YUM), Cracker Barrel (I HAVE TO HAVE MY CHICKEN FRIED STEAK!), Sonic (mmmm, Cheeseburger with bacon toaster and an orange/cream slushie), Guadalara (favorite Mexican place in Denver) and The New Dynasty (for Chinese - this place does us in, there are 10 of us and we each order the meal, so that's 10 different dishes we get! (Bad, very bad...) I never claimed any of it was good for me but very tasty and filling, especially around the gut and thighs!!! *sigh*

Ok - Back to my day! So after finally making it to my cubie after being stopped by all the "Glad to have you back!", "How was the Trip?" comments/questions (Ok, it's nice to be missed ....) I signed on the computer and had to spend the entire morning wading thru 267 e-mails - Geeeeeez!! After that my buddy pops her head up and sez we need to go to Starbucks...I reply: Nope I don't, I need to get some work done... No, it seems I NEED to go to Starbucks with her. So there's 30 minutes blown in the parking lot of Starbucks while she rants on about what went down in her world while I was gone - Don't ask, you REALLY don't want to know. We do pick up some coffee to keep up the masquerade (but, technically she's my boss, so no trouble there. I said technically, we know who's REALLY in charge, lol!!)

The rest of the day flew by in a flurry of catch-up. Remembering to turn off the "out of office" message on my e-mail and voicemail (obviously nobody paid any attention to them anyway *eye roll*) figuring out where the person covering for me put my shit, it really should not be that hard to find the tape dispenser, lord! And so on - Blah, Blah, Blah.

I hightailed it outta work, dead tired and a wee bit peeved (reading a book that takes place in Scotland, "wee" has been creeping in the vocabulary a lot lately...)
Anyway - Seems the new season schedule came out for the T-Birds and hubby picked out our ticket package and bought them.....Super!! Except we blew all the money in that account on vacation and I hadn't gotten to the bank yet!! Well, I was on my way there now I guess......Grrrr!

Later at the bat cave.... I lay on the couch too lazy to get up and go to bed, now how pathetic is that?? Kids are in the other room with the TV TOO LOUD (but I'm to lazy to do anything about it...) when I hear what seems to be a small "crack" followed by a "thump" - I figure it's just Big Ugly Cat jumping on the back fence cuz I heard the neighbor's dog barking. And then in come the kidlets: "Mom, we think a tree fell in the front yard" What the.... "Why do you think a tree fell?", "We heard it and looked out the window and it looks like it's laying in the yard" Ooookay, I get off my lazy butt and check outside.... Well timber, there she be!! Half my pear tree laying in the front yard!! It had just spilt in half and keeled over.... I think it had gotten too heavy with pears and since I've been away and didn't get them picked, it just got too heavy on one side and snap. I was going to take care of it this week, I swear I was!!

So! When I got up this morning @ 4:30, Kent was just coming out of the bathroom and leaving for work. Thought I had better warn him about what he would find when he walked out the front door. Wasn't that thoughtful of me!!! - "Hey, pear tree fell over last night, could you just make sure it's all in our yard and not the neighbor's - it was too dark to see last night, mmmkay??" Now he's usually not really awake at the time in the morning - But man, I wish I had a camera to get the look on his face!! Priceless! Woke him right up, too. LOL!!

Dang! That thing was bigger then it looked - 2 trips to haul it all away. At least that's what I heard, I hung out at work a little longer tonight to avoid the whole thing....Yeah, yeah, yeah - I know - tsk, tsk.

Hmmm might be more then a "wee" bit peeved after all! Have a good one!!

WARNING! WARNING! Gratuitous display of family vacation photos - you have been warned..........

Kelowna BC -

Great lake resort town with it's own sea (or lake) monster, Ogopogo!! Didn't see him, but he is the mascot for the local hockey team!!

All bow to the Memorial Cup!! Well, maybe not the rest of the world but to the guys in my family, next to the Stanley Cup, it's the Holy Grail!!

Off to Lake Louise, with a stop in Cragellachie, BC where the last was driven in the Canadian Pacific railroad. It's back there on the track somewhere behind the kids - don't ask me why, but I never actually got a pic of it!! lol

The Canadian Rockies!! What a beautiful drive!

This is the Yoho River - just around the corner from Lake Louise. We stayed in a great cabin in the woods next to the river.

Lake Louise - What a great place, just beautiful! We went thru the chateau, rode the gondolas up the mountain and Kent and the kids took the canoes out on the lake.

This is it for Edmonton - Edmonton didn't work out so well. The West Edmonton Mall had just flooded, Mr George Strait began haunting us and we couldn't get in to the Rexall Center (home of the Edmonton Oilers) when we wanted. So we headed down to Red Deer and really liked it. Nice little town half way between Edmonton and Calgary. Oh Well! That's life. We did get in to Rexall and the lady that met us was fabulous and took us all over. Unfortunately I let Kent have the camera and all the pics came out too dark. But, here's one in front of the statue of the "Great One" Wayne Gretsky and in front of the door for the Red Deer Rebels (Glenn got a cool jersey from Red Deer)

Yahoo! Calgary! And here we are with our official Certificates (and cowboy hats!) proclaiming us honorary Calgarians! Thanks again Patty!!

And here are some from the Saddledome: Had a super time here, LOVED IT! George Strait and all!

The Olympic Park in Calgary is really cool and we spent all day there.

The 90 metre Ski jump - From the side and from the top....

THE Olympic torch - The one that actually lit the flame for the Calgary Olympics. You have to ask, and they will take it out and let you hold it.

This was where the movie "Cool Runnings" was filmed, so of course the kids got their pic in front of the Bob Sleigh that was used in the movie.

On to Denver - But first, stops in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge (hockey thang...) Very nice people though. When they found out where we were from and why we were there they were great. Glenn got his pic with the Presidents Cup in Medicine Hat (see Holy Grail reference). The guy was going to let him hold it, but all 4 of us screaming NO! At the same time changed his mind. We all know this family's luck and this thing would have been crashing to the floor in no time! In Lethbridge the guy saw the kids t-shirts from Medicine and didn't have any, so he went to the freezer and got hockey pucks for the kids! Nice!

So, like I said, on to Denver..... In 24 HOURS!! Not the original plan, but the kids wanted to get there so bad and Kent was on the driving high "Let's just go for it!" Nice thought, but he always conks out at some place and it's me, the Semi Trucks, the dead of night looking for deer that might jump across the road and road construction!! But we did it and it was fun to call my mom and surprise her by saying we were there.

The kids that begged us to keep driving.....Yeah this is what they did!

So here are some pics from the time with the family:

Me and "The Girls":

No matter how old they are, to my mom these two will always be the "Little Ones":

Ooooh... An actual photo of me and the Hubby - no kids! Except for the little hand doing the thumbs up! Way to go Glenn!

The only shots we really got from Six Flags before that lovely Midwest summer phenomenon known has the afternoon thunderstorm! Kent and the girls had just sat down on the Tower of Doom and Glenn and I had just gotten to the front of the BatWing when they shut the rides down due to lightning...grrrrrr. Should have know better! Same thing happened at the water park the day before. Oh Well!

They're up there somewhere....

And of course we had to hit the Pepsi Center for the new Av's gear and take the tour. And Em saw this concert pic and HAD to get her pic taken. She loves AC/DC. I love the shot - AC/DC in her Def Leppard t-shirt! No pics of DL, cuz they played the old McNicols arena (please refer to your "In your face, in the round" DVD)

This is one is for Patty: THANKS AGAIN!!

And that's IT!! I thought I would get this over with in one sitting and you survived!!!

Now back to our regular programing.....
