What a summer……

Back in early spring it appeared the summer was shaping up to be a relaxing time of the year. A chance to catch one’s breath and re-charge after the hectic school year. Boy, I should have had my head examined back then! What was I thinking?!

From June 1st ‘till now it’s been quite a ride. The first DL show in Portland, the wedding in VEGAS and then the great mid-west road trip! It’s no wonder that the family and the co-workers have a look of surprise on their faces when they actually see me around!

I haven’t been around here or anywhere “net” wise in a while. I’ve been working on a little project closer to home, namely myself. A little birdie told me I was up for a promotion and office politics being what they are, I spent the last few weeks playing “the game”. The official announcement was made the Friday before heading off on my next adventure and I am now the head of my department within our department. (Does that make sense? Anyway, I’m running around like a crazy person, what’s new?) So with this new responsibility, my first move is to up and leave for a week;

The great mid-west adventure: Well things couldn’t have started off on a more relaxed and happier note! The hubby decided to take the kidlets camping up in our beautiful mountains the weekend I was leaving, so I had a nice quiet Friday and Saturday to get things in order. And then at 10:00pm Saturday night, I decided to check my flight status for my departing flight @ 6:00 am. And right out the window goes the relaxed part of my weekend! Seems the airlines had to do a crew change on my 6:00am flight, which meant missing my connecting flight in Denver. Needless to say, after spending the better part of the night scrambling around trying to get my flights figured out, I was dead tired, frustrated and ended up with a flight that got me to my destination 5 ½ hours later then anticipated. The biggest let down being the fact I missed my opportunity to meet the little “DIT”, Emilee. (That’s my nickname for the 2 “Ems” – Divas In Training.) And then of course my luggage - *sigh* One of the reasons I so dislike connecting flights is the chance your luggage doesn’t connect. And true to form, this is what happen. I made it to Kansas City, the most important “Bag of Products” (essential to all Divas) did not…..*sigh* an hour later it arrived. Could have been worse I guess, but it pretty much blew any chances of making it to Davenport.

On to Lincoln! And more on that later…….
